First coaches now being advertised

Our friends at False Economy are hosting the coach and train travel pages for October 20.

Anyone who has booked transport to the march and wants to offer seats to others can use this facility to advertise them. Or if you’re looking for a place on a coach, keep checking it out. As more coaches are added, the map will fill up, and make it easy to locate cheap travel options to get you to London on the day.

The first coaches have now gone live with seats being offered from Newcastle, across Oxfordshire and Southend.

Do you usually have coaches from all over the country? I was expecting to see Birmingham on the list, even better, Tamworth where I’m from!
If possible, email updates as and when news of Tamworth/ Birmingham coaches is received would be fab – myself and my Mother-in-law would love to come along and lend our support (and voices) to the rally
    Yours in anticipation

The event is still some months away so there are not that many coaches listed yet.

What often happens is that a union or other group will book a coach for its members. If it then finds that it has spare seats it will advertise them through the False Economy page – and using local networks – and that will be your chance to get a lift.

We can’t make any promises as we are not organising coaches centrally, but it would be surprising if there were no coaches with seats from Birmingham or even Tamworth. You could also try asking local union offices.

Any buses, trains from Sheffield please? – we are a group of about six people keen to go. Thanks

    • Geoff Turner says:

Sheffield Trades Council have booked coaches, and we are collecting names on a database, so we can book more as needed, and update people with further details. I have submitted this to False Economy today, but you can send an email with names etc.. to the email address above. Time of departure and meeting point to be decided. £10 waged £5 unwaged.

  14. What is the venue for the Glasgow event? Also, I must ask, if this is being heavily publicised with a main focus on London and we want this to be ‘the biggest anti-austerity march ever’, why is the event being split between different cities, rather than the unions getting together and mobilising people in the centre of London, like we did before?

  15. John Wood says:

Hi Andrew. Here’s a bit more information about the march the STUC are organising in Glasgow: http://www.stuc.org.uk/20-oct

  16. Paul Wilkinson says:

Any news yet on where the coach parks will be?

  17. John Wood says:

Not yet Paul, but they will be all over. So many coaches expected that we’re booking out most of the spaces in London that are close to good public transport links. Likely as with march last year, we’ll allocate coaches from around the country to parks that are easiest for their inbound journeys to London, so we aren’t delaying people’s journeys further in avoidable traffic. Watch this space.

  18. Amber Spearing says:

Hi, Are there any coaches from Lowestoft, Ipswich or Norwich ?

    Thannks :)

  19. Owein Prendergast says:

Anyone aware of any transport being aranged from Bangor North Wales?
    Thanks
